Our Story

The Flag for Hope Project was started by a small group of friends who realized that no amount of talking around the backyard grill would make a difference. We knew that we had to take action if we wanted to have an impact.

Our visionary artist and U.S. Army Veteran, Marcos Antonio, spent more than 10 years traveling the globe using art as a way to unite humanity. His selflessness and sincerity ignited our desire to bring his message of unity, honor, and peace home to America. We embarked with no personal agendas, no politics – just a passion for our country and our flag.

We invested in each other, we devoted massive amounts of time, money, effort, and talent. We made personal and professional sacrifices. We faced incredible adversity including health, personal tragedy, and tremendous logistical challenges. We did absolutely everything within our power to create the Flag for Hope. We completed more than 300,000 air miles. We traveled more than 50,000 miles in rental cars. We visited more than 500 locations in 200 cities across our great nation. The Flag for Hope received it’s final hand impression on September 18, 2016 in Dallas, TX.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where millions of Americans positively affirm that:

  • We are more alike than we are different, and our disagreements over the issues of the day do not define who we are as a nation.
  • Our behavior toward each other matters and we must treat each other with civility, dignity, and respect.
  • Every American has a responsibility to make a positive impact in his or her community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish The Flag for Hope as an enduring National Treasure. We are preserving, honoring, and curating the stories of the 4,000 Americans who participated in the Flag’s creation. They are a poignant representation of who we are as a country.

We are developing programs, products, and services based on the truth we unearthed during our journey. All of our activities will be designed to deepen Americans’ understanding that:

  • Freedom is not free, and we owe a debt of gratitude to those who have sacrificed.
  • Every individual has the right to pursue happiness.
  • Safe, thriving neighborhoods provide us with our best chance to live in peace and raise our families.
  • All of us are connected to a purpose much greater than ourselves.

The Flag for Hope Project will engage in strategic partnerships that are consistent with the profound nature of our mission in order to achieve our vision. As further evidence of our commitment, we will donate 10% of profits to charities that align with our core values, with an emphasis on supporting safe communities and aiding America’s veterans.

Our Values

The gravity and scope of our mission has and will require an unwavering belief in our core values – patriotism, honor, trust, persistence, honesty, civility, dignity, personal accountability, and the incredible power of a single person to create change.
