Gary Keller is an American author, real estate entrepreneur and Chairman of the Board for Keller Williams Realty an international real estate franchise.
After graduating from high school, Gary pursued a music career, but soon decided to go to college. He applied and was subsequently accepted to Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Keller thus followed in the footsteps of his father and sister who had previously attended the University. At Baylor he spent time following professionals in the fields of accounting, banking, real estate and law.
It was at that time he became interested in real estate and began to pursue a degree. In his senior year he interviewed with various real estate companies who came to Baylor seeking graduates. After graduation in 1979, Keller moved to Austin where he began his career in real estate.
He worked for four years prior to starting his own agency. In 1983, he and Joe Williams founded Keller Williams Realty in Austin. In two short years, the company grew to be one of the most successful agencies in Austin, Tx. He is pictured here at Keller William’s corporate offices with executives and support staff!
With expansion and franchising, Keller Williams Realty became the largest real estate franchise by agent count in North America. Keller Williams Realty reached a milestone of over 100,000 agents worldwide in 2014 with franchises in the United States and internationally in Canada, Southern Africa, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, among others.
During his early years at Keller Williams Realty he began writing and established KellerINK for the publishing of instructional and inspirational business books. His first book, The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, was co-authored with Dave Jenks and Jay Papasan and released in 2004. The book made the best-seller list on Business Week. Later he co-authored a second book, The Millionaire Real Estate Investor, in 2005 along with Papasan and Jenks. This book became a New York Times best-seller.
As a finalist for Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year award, Keller is recognized as an influential leader in the real estate industry. He managed his company to 30 consecutive years of growth and profitability. Keller has written three nationally best-selling books including How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times.
Gary has helped countless others find success narrowing down their ONE thing as a coach and speaker. Keller and co-author Papasan published their first non-real estate book in 2013, The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results. The book reached #1 on the Wall Street Journal business bestseller list and also a bestseller on The New York Times and USA Today lists.
Keller has been involved in other ventures as well. He has invested in companies such as the Austin-based Music & Entertainment Television. Gary is also a public speaker and was a panelist for the nonprofit Relationship & Information Series for Entrepreneurs in 2013. To those who know him, his greatest achievement is the life he built with wife Mary and their son John.
We would like to thank Gary Keller for participating in the Flag for Hope project supporting Unity, Peace, Respect and Patriotism!
What is Flag for Hope?
The Flag for Hope Project was started to help promote Unity and Peace among all Americans.
The Flag symbolically represents thousands of Americans holding hands without conflict or hatred. We are all one country and one people. The Flag for Hope is NOT political. It is about patriotism and coming together as a country. NOW IS THE TIME!!!
The Flag Project is also about honor and respect for the men and women that have proudly worn a United States military uniform and fought for our freedoms. Flag for Hope is a reminder that Freedom Isn’t Free. Many have sacrificed for the privileges that we all have today. This Flag signifies appreciation and gratitude for those individuals who serve in our communities like teachers, police, fire, doctors and nurses. It calls us to remember all Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice at the hands of both foreign and domestic enemy attacks. If an American is harmed ANYWHERE, we all suffer and mourn.
The team is led by U.S. Army veteran Marcos Antonio. This epic mission was started at the Indianapolis 500 on May 23, 2015. Our goal is to collect approximately 3,000 – 4,000 American hand and finger impressions on a giant canvas to create the United States of America National Flag. We will accomplish this by going to over a 150 cities and roughly 300 – 400 locations. Each participant will place their impression on the flag in either red, white, or blue paint. There will be 50 American Olympians that put their impression on the flag representing the 50 states and showing the solidarity of the entire nation.
Lastly, the 50 stars on the flag will be iconic Americans that have greatly contributed to the strength and well being of our country. These individuals have inspired, empowered, and encouraged their fellow citizens through their actions as pioneers, role models, and leaders in our society. They come from all backgrounds and embody the essence of the American spirit.
This historic project has never been attempted before and we will finish when every last American can fill the limited space on our 9×5 canvas panel. Finally, the Flag for Hope will be donated to a national museum like the Smithsonian for all Americans to view for generations to come.
