South Carolina – July 26-28, 2015
Flag for Hope in South Carolina: Our itinerary picked up speed once we headed to South Carolina. We started in Greenville, South Carolina at NOMA Square near Hyatt Regency hotel, which was recently voted one of the Best Downtowns in America for its plethora of beautiful art, restaurants, and unique vendors. We visited the Wade Hamilton Fire Department, and the Children’s Museum of the Upstate where we collected impressions in the Art Studio from 1PM to 3PM.
On Monday, we headed to the WCIV-TV ABC News 4 Station for an appearance on Lowcountry Live TV! Our team was very excited to present the Flag for Hope project to the Lowcountry audience and spread the message of hope and unity. We were on live at 10AM. Tat same day we visited the North Grounds of the State House in Columbia. We ended the day at Riley Stadium, home of the Charleston Riverdogs, to collect impressions from the coaches and team before the game starts.
Our first stop on Tuesday was Patriots Point in Charleston where we met with Bobby Kotlowski. Bobby is a retired Marine Corps Sergeant whose father, also a Marine, was a veteran of the Korean War. Patriots Point is the current home three naval ships: the USS Yorktown, USS Laffey, and the USS Clamagore. The ships serve as museums and give hundreds of visitors every year a firsthand appreciation of life on the sea for our dedicated sailors and marines.
We had a great time in the Carolinas and we can’t wait to share our experience with you! Check back here for more updates in the following weeks!
